Introduction/Objective:
A mental exercise designed to increase alertness, build focus, and disrupt automatic routines by consciously naming your actions.
Exercise Steps:
1. As you perform simple daily tasks (e.g., washing hands, making tea), pay absolute attention to every movement.
2. Periodically ask yourself during the day: ‘What am I doing right now?’ and answer internally to ground yourself in the present.
3. Challenge your brain by looking at names of colors written in different ink (e.g., the word ‘Red’ written in blue) and try naming the ink color rather than reading the word.
Benefits:
– Stimulates the prefrontal cortex responsible for decision-making and focus.
– Disrupts mindless routines and increases presence.
– Enhances attention span and cognitive flexibility.
